The Village and Area

The house is situated in a tranquil setting with panoramic woodland views over the ancient village of Collobrieres with its two ancient churches and is a five to ten minute walk from the house depending on whether you are walking up or downhill!

There are a number of good restaurants and bars to enjoy, but for those who would rather eat at home the village butcher prepares a daily special which saves time in the kitchen and allows more time around the pool watching the sunset as the mild warm evenings draw in.

There are shops providing all everyday needs and there is a doctor, dentist and pharmacist if needed.

The village is very lively and not just a summer vacation location with colourful festivals which occur throughout the year, especially in October.  Also known for its crafts with several art galleries and craft shops in the centre, it is the “Capital” of the chestnut growing area and is famous for its produce, which adds to the variety of crafts and produce available in this friendly delightful village.

The area offers the possibility of many holiday activities for both children and grownups to enjoy. Collobrieres is only a drive of half an hour from the spacious sandy beaches, both private and public, of La Londe and Bormes les Mimosas, which are rarely overcrowded even in high season.

The local marina in La Londe has a sailing school and there are fishing trips and boat trips readibly available. There are tennis courts in the village, an equestrian centre and a carting track about half an hour away in Hyeres, and even a theme park a little further between La Londe and Le Lavandou.

The local countryside is extremely popular with hikers and cyclists alike as the terrain is suited to both these pursuits and extremely interesting for anyone who has a love of nature and wildlife.

Collobrieres is surrounded by vineyards and the local wine is excellent and very reasonably priced.

The wider area offers both the beauty of the Var and the wonderful towns and cities of the region with Aix en Provence being a mere hour away, and the sophistication of St. Tropez a forty five minutes drive along the coast.

If that sounds all too energetic and exhausting then the comfort and luxury of this lovingly restored home is were to spend your day. Just laze around the azure swimming pool with a glass of the delicious local wine, eat on the shady terrace overlooking the views, or walk in the woods around the house.
